How to draw a P&ID

  1. Start. Pick a blank sheet, or a ready setup: cooling water distribution, cooling tower loop, reactor, centrifuge and dryer, distillation column, steam and condensate, or a pump transfer.
  2. Place equipment. Click a symbol on the left, then click the sheet. The panel holds every item from the Equipment guide; type in the search box to find one.
  3. Connect. Press Connect, click where the line starts, then where it goes. Click a line to branch off it with a tee, or empty space to add a bend point.
  4. Add valves, pumps and instruments. Click the symbol, then click the line (or the vessel for an instrument). Drag a valve along its line to move it.
  5. Edit. Click anything to change its tag, name, line service or size. Download the drawing as an image when you are done.
